Bubbles- Bien plus qu'un compagnon, un symbole d'une relation unique.

Parmi les êtres qui ont marqué la vie de Michael Jackson, Bubbles occupe une place toute particulière. Bien plus qu'un simple chimpanzé, il fut un compagnon fidèle qui partagea de nombreux instants de la vie de l'artiste, suscitant autant de curiosité que de tendresse.

The release of the new Michael movie has brought to us a wave of public curiosity about one of the most famous chimpanzees in modern history: Bubbles.

For many, Bubbles remains frozen in time as the young chimp who captured media attention decades ago. But today at the CENTER FOR GREAT APES, Bubbles lives a peaceful sanctuary life with chimpanzee companions, good nutrition and health care, and daily enrichment activities. This year, we are celebrating Bubbles' 21st anniversary at our sanctuary...and his 43rd birthday.

When Bubbles first arrived in 2005, he was entering a new phase of life. Like any chimpanzee raised around humans, his transition to the sanctuary was vital. It finally gave him the opportunity to:

° Build relationships with his own species

° Integrate into a stable social group

° Settle into a environment designed entirely around his needs.

Today, Bubbles is a respected elder champ. His days are no longer dictated by camera, travel, or public performance. Instead, they are filled with the things chimpanzees value most : companionship, routine, enrichment, and the freedom to make his own choices.

Those who know Bubbles best , describe him as observant, highly intelligent, and very particular. He keeps a sharp eye on his surroundings and enjoys the peace of sanctuary life.

Like anhyone entering their golden years, Bubbles has strong preferences. He knows exactly what he likes. He is especially fond of foraging activities, finding special treats hidden inside enrichment puzzles, and keeping a watchful eye on the daily happenings around his habitat. Alongside his troop, Bubbles enjoys full access to spacious outdoor habitats complete with climbing structures, indoor night houses, and elevated aerial trailways where he can stroll trough the woods in the tunnels.

Whether he wants to explore, rest, or socialize, the choice is entirely his.

What the world should understand is that Bubbles is a valued elder, a member of a chimpanzee community, and an individual with his own unique history, quirks, and friendships. Like every one of the 71 great apes residents in our care, he is here to live out his life with dignity, exceptional medical care, and the comfort of his own kind.

We welcome the renewed interest in Bubbles because it allows us to share a vital truth: sanctuary is not about where you've been; it's about what comes next.

And for Bubbles, what comes next is exactly what he has deserves: A LIFE CENTERED ENTIRELY ON SIMPLY BEING A CHIMPANZEE.
